Your Story: As a combat veteran, I have struggled with mental health problems since returning home and have seen the same with some of my former battle buddies as well. Late one night, I was struggling with something that a relationship has brought up and called the VA helpline because I was concerned. I was able to speak with someone but it was just a person to get my information. I asked to be put in touch with a mental health counselor ASAP. After a few weeks and no response, I found a counselor and started paying our of pocket for my mental health. Not all of my battle buddies have the same opportunity to get help on their own. I fully support this bill and hope it gets passed.
